{"id":8474,"date":"2025-09-21T15:13:43","date_gmt":"2025-09-21T22:13:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/iranreport.org\/?p=8474"},"modified":"2025-09-21T15:21:33","modified_gmt":"2025-09-21T22:21:33","slug":"iran-says-it-will-suspend-cooperation-with-uns-nuclear-watchdog","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/iranreport.org\/?p=8474","title":{"rendered":"Iran says it will suspend cooperation with UN\u2019s IAEA nuclear watchdog"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><em>President Masoud Pezeshkian also says that Tehran will \u2018overcome obstacles\u2019 if wide-ranging UN sanctions are reimposed.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div>\n<iframe id=\"ytplayer\" type=\"text\/html\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/g-Js3uxjoF8?si=yyGqC5xJIYQJF_DC&#038;cc_lang_pref=fa&#038;cc_load_policy=1&#038;rel=0\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n\n    <button type=\"button\" onclick=\"toggleImage()\" id=\"btnID\" style=\"margin-top: 10px; margin-bottom: 10px;\">\n        \u0627\u0646\u062f\u0627\u0632\u0647 \u0632\u06cc\u0631\u0646\u0648\u06cc\u0633 \u0631\u0627 \u0627\u0641\u0632\u0627\u06cc\u0634 \u062f\u0647\u06cc\u062f (\u0641\u0642\u0637 \u0631\u0627\u06cc\u0627\u0646\u0647)\n    <\/button>\n    <img decoding=\"async\" id=\"image\" src=\"\" \/>\n<\/div>\n\n<script>\n    function toggleImage() {\n        const image = document.getElementById(\"image\");\n        const imageUrl = \"https:\/\/iranreport.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/Font-Size.jpg\";\n\n        if (image.src === imageUrl || image.src.endsWith(\"Font-Size.jpg\")) {\n            image.src = \"\";\n        } else {\n            image.src = imageUrl;\n        }\n    }\n<\/script>\n\n\n\n<p>Iran\u2019s top security body has warned that action by France, Germany and the United Kingdom to reimpose international sanctions will \u201ceffectively suspend\u201d its cooperation with the United Nations nuclear watchdog.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The warning from the Supreme National Security Council came on Saturday, a day after the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) failed to adopt a resolution to permanently lift sanctions against Iran.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That vote was called after the three European nations launched a 30-day process on August 28 to reimpose UN sanctions on Iran, claiming that Tehran has violated a deal it signed in 2015 to curb its nuclear programme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Russia and China, which are also signatories to the deal, have both rejected the bid to trigger the \u201csnapback\u201d sanctions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Iran\u2019s Supreme National Security Council, which is chaired by President Masoud Pezeshkian, called the action taken by the three European nations, who are known as the E3, \u201cill-considered\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It said the move undermined months of engagement with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) aimed at resuming monitoring and ensuring compliance with international rules.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cDespite the cooperation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran with the [IAEA] and the proposals presented to resolve the [nuclear] issue, the actions of European countries will effectively suspend the path of cooperation with the Agency,\u201d the council said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It went on to order the foreign ministry to \u201ccontinue its consultations within the framework of the decisions of the Supreme National Security Council to protect the country\u2019s national interests\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Earlier this month, Iran and IAEA had&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.aljazeera.com\/news\/2025\/9\/10\/iran-and-un-appear-at-odds-over-nuclear-deal\">reached a deal&nbsp;on resuming inspections<\/a>&nbsp;at Iranian nuclear sites \u2013 including those targeted by the United States and Israel in June \u2013 following a meeting in the Egyptian capital, Cairo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi also told Iran\u2019s IRIB television that the recent agreement reached with the IAEA in Cairo will be \u201ccompletely stopped\u2026if nothing special happens in the field of diplomacy\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Under the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) \u2013 signed by Iran, China, Russia, the United States and the E3 \u2013 Tehran had agreed to curb its nuclear programme in return for sanctions relief.
